Abstract

The purpose of the article is to consider the specifics of using of operas of Ukrainian composers of the past and present during vocal lessons. The methodology of the article is based on a complex combination of different methods, such as analytical, theoretical and comparative generalizing. The scientific novelty consists in emphasizing more frequent involvement of national composers’ operas in the students’ educational repertoire. Conclusions. The review of the «national opera treasury» in names and dates was made. The sporadic using of arias and musical pieces from the opera works of Ukrainian composers during the vocal classes was ascertained. The need of revising a number of educational programs of musical institutions of different levels of accreditation, in which for national operas as a recommended repertoire has been given a very little place, is emphasized. The necessity to involve recently written opera works by contemporary composers in the educational repertoire is underscored. The importance of compilation of anthologies for different types of voices on the works of Ukrainian authors of the present age is investigated. The didactic significance of the national operatic heritage and the demand for its more active promotion are underlined. The influence of the teacher’s performing repertoire on the formation of the student’s musical tastes and the accumulation of his own vocal repertoire has been studied. The opera arias of Ukrainian composers, as well as their chamber and vocal works, are an exceptionally valuable didactic material in the process of training of future singers. Prospects for further research are connected with studying the issue of the productions of operas by Ukrainian composers on the leading opera stages of Ukraine. In this context, it should be noted, that the Lviv Opera House named after Solomiya Krushel’nytska with the artistic motto «Ukrainian Breakthrough» stands now at the forefront of the country’s opera movement. This is confirmed by the staging of the operas «When the Fern Flowers» by Ye. Stankovych and «The Fox Mykyta» by I. Nebesny, which is scheduled for December 2019.
