The article examines the work of the American composer of Chinese origin Bright Sheng. The multidimensionality of his creative activity in the modern globalized world reveals signs of glocalization - trends that are increasingly important in various spheres of modern human existence, symbolically - in the musical dimension. The artist's compositional style is described as the "Scheng method", which, in addition to national orientation, was shaped by the traditions of different continents and the influences of different compositional schools. Foreign influences include the influence of the composer's teachers in the United States (K. Shakhter, J. Pearl, H. Weisgal, J. Beeson, M. Davidovsky) and prominent contemporary artists (L. Bernstein, with whom Bright Sheng worked closely for a long time). The issue of cultural synthesis is one of the integral ones for those artists of Far Eastern culture whose creative "self" is gaining recognition on the international stage. Taking as a model the creative position of his teacher Chou Wen Chang, Bright Sheng addresses the issue of cultural synthesis in his own creative style from the standpoint of glocalization through an appeal to local cultures in their historical and geographical dimension, which is also the source of his musicological works. The composer's musical language allows us to reveal not only the peculiarities of his creative style, but also the reason for the popularity of his music. Operating with the first fruits of local melodic formations, Bright Sheng specifically interprets the characteristic pentatonic system of Chinese musical thinking, relying on B. Bartok's principles in working with modal formations. The author translates the solution of the ladoharmonic component into musical form, taking as a basis the approaches of H. Schenker. The composer's musical language reveals a deeply individual attitude to texture, which he solves in an original way in each of his works. One of the most striking examples is his operas, in particular their choral component. Bright Sheng is one of the few Chinese composers who not only collaborated with Ukrainian performers, but also responded to the events of the Russian-Ukrainian war. Impressed by the heroic struggle of Ukrainians, the composer joined the position of the civilized world regarding the war in the center of Europe, trying to instill faith in the future of humanity, which was reflected in one of Bright Sheng's last orchestral works - «Triumph of Humanity».
