The article considers the strategy and process of preparation for the production of R. Wagner's opera "Gold of the Rhine" by professionals and high school students. The principles of cooperation of future music teachers - students of music pedagogy at the Higher School of Music and Theater. Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy in Leipzig, their teachers who coordinated and directed the process of preparing the opera for stage embodiment. It is pointed out that the most important criterion for choosing the planned form of pedagogical work is that students personally empathize with a complex opera masterpiece, begin to understand it "from within" as performers, directors, thus gaining invaluable experience for future creative initiatives in their professional activities. An exceptionally positive effect of such cooperation is achieved by the fact that students (children and youth) also take an active part in the preparation of performances and in performances.
