MUSICAL AND CRITICAL CREATIVITY OF NESTOR NIZHANKIVSKY IN THE LITERARY AND PUBLISHING PROCESS BEGINNING OF THE 20TH CENTURY

Abstract

The study is dedicated to the musical and critical legacy of Nestor Nyzhankivskyi, the founder of Ukrainian culture. The author considers the composer’s publicistic legacy as a vivid documentary evidence of the development of Ukrainian culture in the early 20th century. His essays, articles, criticisms, musical reviews, journalistic stories, reminiscences printed in various periodical editions of 30-s («Studentskyi visnyk” (Prague), “Dilo”, “Ukrainski visti”, “Novyi chas”, “Nazustrich”, “Zhyttia i znannia”, “Boian”, “Svitlo y Tin”) have always covered the most important cultural and artistic problems of Galicia. The researcher characterizes the topics of publications, the genre spectrum of newspaper materials, the author’s publicistic style and proves the expediency of introducing it into the scientific, educational and social-artistic use.
