The existence phenomenon of such a creative public association of professional composers and musicologists is studied. During its existence, the National Union of Composers of Ukraine had several names: from 1932 – the Union of Soviet Musicians of Ukraine (USMU), 1939 – the Union of Soviet Composers of Ukraine (USCU), 1957 – the Union of Composers of Ukraine (UCU), from 1998 to the present day – the National Union of Composers of Ukraine (NUCU).
