THE VARIETY ACTIVITY OF MUSLIM MAGOMAYEV: VOCAL PERFORMANCE ASPECT

Abstract

The purpose of the research is to study the vocal performing aspect of the pop activity of M. Magomayev in the context of forming the direction of «classic crossover». The research methodology involves a comprehensive combination of historical, cultural, analytical and comparative methods that made it possible to find out the place of variety art by M. Magomayev in the historical development of world variety art. The scientific novelty of the work consists in the fact that in Ukrainian science for the first time it is considered to visit the prominent Azerbaijani opera and variety singer M. Magomayev as one of the first representatives of the direction «classic crossover», which synthesizes the achievements of academic and variety vocal, which is confirmed by his work on the stage, in including work on soundtracks to the popular cartoon film «In the footsteps of the Bremen musicians». Conclusions. At the turn of the 20 – 21 century, one of the areas that synthesizes the achievements of academic and variety art, has become a classic crossover. However, the origins of the classic crossover reach the roots of the 1960s-1970s when the first attempts were made to search for the synthesis of academic and variety vocal. An analysis of the creative work of the prominent Azerbaijani singer M. Magomayev suggests that his vocal and performing arts can be considered in the context of the formation of the «classic crossover» direction, and M. Magomayev as one of its first representatives. Today, the work of an outstanding singer, a standard for variety performers, is gaining momentum in the Ukrainian cultural space. Among the events, the greatest cultural repercussions were the all-Ukrainian tour «You are My Melody» leading singer Volodymyr Hryshko dedicated to the 75th anniversary of M. Magomayev (2018), the First International Competition of Professional Vocalists «In Memory of Muslim Magomayev» (Truskavets, 2018).
